Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 10AM – 2PM the Inland Empire Section American Planning Association (IES-APA) hosted an agriculture tour through the Graber Olive House and Huerta Del Valle Community Garden in Ontario.
The tour started at the Graber Olive House where participants visited the museum to learn about the history of the Graber family, and the processing methods their family has been following for four generations. Rosalie and her tour guides gifted our participants a can of delicious olives at the end of their tour before heading to the community garden.
To end the tour, participants headed to Huerta Del Valle Community Garden where Executive Director, Maria Alonso prepared a delicious home-made lunch. They had a salad, infused water and tea with organic vegetables and fruits that were freshly picked from the garden. Project Manager, Arthur Levine led the tour to teach participants about urban farming. They also had a chance to learn about the local programs and resources offered to the community.
The tour was a successful event that was led by IES-APA. Participants had a lot of fun and had a chance to learn about the history of urban farming over the years. They encourage others to visit the Graber Olive House and to support our Huerta Del Valle Community Garden.
Thank You IE-APA!
